Why teach?

Dominic lectures in the training of neurology, neurophysiology, and sports medicine physicians in addition to allied health professionals.

He is a senior editor in OrthOracle, an online digital procedural atlas and has developed comprehensive course material for cadaveric workshops in hand surgery, nerve surgery, microsurgery, advanced nerve reconstruction and nerve transfer surgery.

He is invited to lecture all over the world and is a contributing editor for “The Manual of Hand Surgery”, contributor to the “Nerve Matters” forum on the Doc Matters website and has procedural videos and lectures available on the Vumedi site.

Chief Editor – orthoracle 

OrthOracle is an online digital procedural textbook in orthopaedic surgery. Dominic Power is chief editor of the OrthOracle “Hand, Wrist and Peripheral Nerve” Atlas.

He manages a team of contributing editors and has personally authored 30 chapters covering the breadth of nerve surgery. The atlas describes commonly used techniques as well as surgical modifications and unique techniques first described by the Nerve Surgeon. The OrthOracle platform includes a discussion forum and provides enhanced professional development modules. The site is accredited by the British Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons. The atlas has been adopted as the main procedural text by several national orthopaedic associations.

Dominic Power is regularly invited to teach as course faculty including cadaveric training courses.

In addition, he convenes training courses in nerve surgery, advanced nerve surgery and nerve transfer surgery in the UK and overseas.

Recent course locations have included Rotterdam, Tampa Bay, Vienna, Derby, Singapore and Manchester.

Training

Dominic Power is an NHS consultant in the UK and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Birmingham University. He offers training posts in hand, research and nerve surgery for junior doctors at Foundation level (AFT 1-2), Core Training (CT1-2 Research Fellow), Surgical Training (ST3-8) and post Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (SSCT) for trainees in Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery.

The senior nerve Fellowship is usually appointed to between 1-2 years ahead of time.
